A nice touch of fall was in the air this morning and I opted to give the demo housing site another shot this morning. On my way to the site at 6:30 my car temp. was reading 44-46. And, there was a nice n w wind.
As is typical for this site now, not a lot of good targets showed up this morning, but 3 items of silver did along with 4 wheat cents. The 1943p war nickel came along pretty early in my four hour hunt. The 1919 Mercury came from along the edge of a parking area and was was pretty stained from the tarmac. A good soda rub cleaned it and the nickel fairly decently compared to how they looked coming out of the ground. About ten minutes before the end of my hunt I got a broken, kind of scratchy high tone tic that sounded like it needed investigating. Circling the target I finally got a small sounding 81-82 reading. Found the target in the clod, a marked MEXICO 925 ring with maybe a small black onyx stone. The 4 wheats were 2x44 and 2x 46. HH jim tn
