Today's early morning hunt yields something odd.

I did not want to go far as I knew it would be getting hot.
So, I chose to re-hit an old spot that is very old (early 1800s).
It has produced many-many old coins and items over the years.
Well, my first coin was a 16d wheat then my second digable hit was that mid Lil low right bouncer and was pretty darn sure it was a Indian. She was about 6-7" and turned out to be a 1896.
Then right before I was leaving I got this nice faint hit. I dug down about 8" and pulled out this Lil cowhide pouch (looks Indian) and this strange marble looking piece.
After close examination I got the signal due to this little piece of hammered copper on the string.
Any ideas what this marble thing is? It is not exactly perfectly round.
Fun hunt for about an hour or so, but, still very-very dry even after yesterdays downpour.
We really need a steady long rain for a couple of days. I gave up due to the heat and being soaking wet before 11:30am.
Here are today's finds (minus the 16d Wheat)

Thanks for looking guys!

No idea on the relics Mike but their beautiful, truely a piece of American history. Great job! JJ

Thanks also, but this would be awfully big for a trade bead would it not?
I carefully un-rolled the little pouch and it has two small trade beads on it though. One is yellowish and one is amber/brownish.
I then washed out what appeared to be a hole started into this ball thing and it does not go all the way through and I took a toothpick and got the dirt out of the cracks etc.
I have decided it is a petrified small apple because it beats the heck out of me what it is.
It is about 2" in Diameter but, not really perfectly round. The cleaned out area is more like a slit in it.
To give reference I could probably put 7 or so IH Pennies in the little pouch.
Here is a better pic showing the beads on the pouch and odd shape of ball amber thing?

Sorry for edits, just had to find something to hold the ball thing up for a decent pic.
Oh well, thanks for the looks and comments all.

I'll take a WAG at it. The stone looks like a piece of amber or hard tree resin. Maybe it was thought to possess magic, powers, or good luck and was kept in the pouch for special purposes.
