The weather today was too nice to pass up, sunny and a comfortably warm 48 degrees. Ed/Butch, the pounded to death bandstand gives up some more treasure!

I rescued this poor girl near the bandstand, this 1837 has seen some miles.

This is why I'd rather dig an indian head at this site than silver, the patina can be awesome. I found this and the 1882 in the same hole a few feet from the larce cent.

I found this lone IH yesterday. I'll have to get the 100x scope out and have a look at this one, could be a giant die crack.

Here's the pair to the 1888 above.

This was also from the bandstand, amazing.

Good lord this was deep, we typically find 1700 to early 1800 coins in this area and depth. When I flipped over the "first" plug I found a completely rusted away bottle cap. All that was left was the rust stain and the plastic disc. I'm guessing thats why it was still there to find.

I have to admit, I was having silver withdrawal symtoms the last two days so this gave me a quick fix.

Here's my only other decent find from yesterday, a cuff button after some button mojo (aluminum jelly and cotton swab)

Finally the heartbreaker ruby. :D

Very nice Charles--
Just goes to show you. A pounded site on a different day, different approach, different attitude, different ground conditions, etc. can yield some keepers. Thanks for rubbing, I mean sharing, your finds with us. Merry Christmas!

There is a lot of trash on the bandstand slopes but its not insane. There is less out in the flat area. The difficulity is that there is a ton of old rusty square nails, they are virtually everywhere. The whole thing is about 80x100 feet.

Its not in use today, events are held at other much larger locations at this park. The modern trash in those locations is rather intense.
