Today's Dig, A Mix

As soon as I started on this sidewalk tear out, a carpenter bird dogged me and was baffled with what I was doing. I did not get in his way, or was anywhere close to where he was working. He just seemed to think someone swore him in as the sidewalk police. He started by telling me it was private property, to try to run me off and I informed him, in a nice way it was city property. He said "I find that odd", kept saying that and I remained calm and cooperative. He the backed down and said "i won't try to stop you", and walked away, getting back to work.
I said all that to say the sidewalks were poured in 1911,12 around here and it's a rare chance to get in before they button it up for another 100 years, I'll be back tonight to get what I missed, before "Yosemte Sam", crossed my path.
Pictured is a very tiny Sterling ring, a Catholic school spelling pin, a marble, 1903 Indian head, 1919s, 36s, 44d, 58d. Nothing too exciting, and certainly not worth a pissing match with the guy I had to talk to. If people get to pushy I usually back down and walk away, not worth the drama. It's supposed to be a relaxing, enjoyable, and recreational pastime/hobby. When it approaches a tense situation, it's not fun anymore.
It won't stop me from doing what I love to do, and I hope it doesn't stop you. Go get you some!

Bodacious finds and one gorgeous ring "congrats" to you and I like the way you handled the pushy carpenter - anyway thank you for posting your pictures and story & I wish you many more while out dirt fishin.

I went back for about an hour in the evening and found this religious pendant in the berm. Tested positive for sterling or better, but no hallmarks. Cleaned up real nice, like silver always does. Might be real old. I was told a Catholic family lived there for years. Gotta love those berms. Mosquitos feasted on me. Go get you some!
