Today's CTX finds

Well it rained all day but I didn't let that stop me..With wallet in sandwich bag I hit the treasure trail. I received my ctx yesterday around 2:00 pm CDST. I played with it until 9:00 pm last night. I didn't like combined mode. Way too busy for me. So this morning at 5 am I opted for 50 conductive with open screen down to 25 ferrous. I ran mostly in auto. CTX stayed around 27/28 auto sens reasding. I ran high trash and target trace on. Since it was raining and I don't have waterproof headsets, I used just the detector's external speaker. Finds were as follows: 1943 quarter, 1902 v nickel, 1845 seated dime, 1904 barber dime, 1923/43/45 mercury dimes, heartshaped locket, silver engagement/wedding ring(no sets too bad), Ford logo emblem off of auto or tractor, silver ring, civil war bullet, another ring contents unknown rang in at 12-01, another pendant, one misc piece. Needles to say I'm tired. I need to figure a way to put a harness on this etrac on steroids. The CTX is a monster in trash. Some of these finds were a good 4-5 inches from where they were detected, I noticed there was iron in most of the holes probably deflecting the signal. I did dig a few pieces of iron, but not many. I tried to dig only 2 way or better signals with good color inside the cursor.
To me this detector is better than sliced bread.
PS I did dig 2 targets that rang in at consistent 22 ferrous. When out of the ground they read 12/13.

That was a good hunt in the rain or any time, nice finds and congrats.

Also dug one wheat and 2 IH, they are in bad shape. One of the indians is 188?? the other 190?? As far as ID, I concentrated strictly on the conductive number. That's the reason I used 50 conductive. This way the CTX runs more like etrac, except for the lower tones. If the target came in at 30 CO or higher I dug. I really wish ML would have given option for volumne differences in Cond and Ferrous in the Combined Mode. I would expect to see an update coming in the future on this shortcoming. Anyone have any suggestions for making a harness attatchment for the larger than etrac pole on the CTX?

Ah, beginners luck :rofl: That is a very nice first day out, congratulations.

It's fun hunting in the rain. But not the lightening. I prefer earbuds with an ear hanger and put the wireless module in your pocket in a baggie. Then you can wear a hat with a brim to stay dry. Nice finds from Neptune.

Thanks Bart. It's been so dry up until last Tues, the fields are bare. The hay fields were cut back in March/early Apr and they look like they were cut yesterday. The CTX is nice. The target trace is difficult to see at times with water droplets on the screen. But at least I could hunt in the rain without the fear equipment damage.

Awesome WTG :twodetecting::clapping:

Really nice silver there. Wow, for a first hunt. Luv to hear your findings.

Nice dime slam there Squirrel - awesome!

Don't overlook the combined feature, especially where iron is in abundance - you'll find stuff that the 50 tone conductive mode will have trouble with - and you can run it with a more open discrimination pattern that will take away a lot of the busy-ness.
