Today's Beach Finds

Jaime and I went and worked the old beach again today. Jaime ended up finding a child's 14k gold ring and 10k earring, 3 silver quarters, along with a bunch of dimes, nickles and quarters. I ended the day with 2 Franklin halves, 1951 and '54, 1 '64 quarter, 1 '41 merc and 1 '64 rosie, 3 war nickles, 2 '43 and 1 '45 along with 24 quarters, 32 dimes, 19 nickles, 57 memorials, 19 wheaties,1929-1956 and also some junk jewelry. Also found a money clip but didn't have any money lol. Over 3 days I have found a total of 3 silver halves, 4 silver quarters, 7 silver dimes, 4 war nickles, 2 buffalos,68 wheaties, 1 silver Tiffany Ring, 68 clad quarters, 113 clad dimes, 74 nickles, 229 memorials and assorted junk jewelry. All these finds came from an area about 50 yards in length that I have been working back and forth. The wave action was again very treacherous and tearing up the coastline. I will probably go back Monday or Tuesday and try it again, I have yet to find any gold rings. I did try to work in water just to my knees and my Excal gave me several low to mid tones but the waves were so rough I could not pick up my foot to dig so I got out of the water, that is how rough and strong the currents were. I have never seen this beach this eroded, makes me wonder what is going on. Here are some pics, thanks for looking. John

nice finds john, I like this time of year to hunt, i've always done good at the end of april and the beginning of may. it seems the winds are lasting longer this year or are stronger than in the past few years. this seems to reshape the beaches and make cuts at the waters edge. it has so in the past I haven't got to hunt this time of year in the last couple of years so it might be different now. hh willia

The winds have been tearing up the surf along with the high surf. You can actully see the water tearing up the sand and exposing coins. What part of the coast are you in? John

I live in bridge city, thats outside of beaumont. 90 miles from galveston. I usually hunt the beaches at galveston. I got up this morning and told my wife that i wish i would of went to surfside this weekend. I haven't been there in years but it was a good place to find old coins. I don't know how it is now since they did the beach replenchment. but I have gone down there before when the coins were just setting on top of the sand after a storm or heavy rain. there seems to be heavier wave action down there than at galveston. wife say's i should've went there last night and stayed in a motel. I might do that next weekend. hh willia

This is good way to get the Silver melt value of your coins. HH

Make sure you click on the coin type, (it should be in blue) it gives you how many were minted and where and more info. HH

Nice hunt!:detecting: Great clad haul!:clapping: Congrats on the silver!:beers: Thanks for sharing! Happy Hunting!:)

I know what you mean about the waves, I was out at South Padre this weekend couldn't get past knee deep, and then it still was brutal, I managed a lot of clad, a silver ring and a 10k band, but most of the targets were deeper in the water and the current and waves kept pushing me yards away everytime I tried to dig.

nice finds wish i could come up with some older coins

You should do good in south padre, look for any cuts in the sand, I will be headed out again tomorrow to see what I can find. The cool front came thru today and the forecast for tomorrow is NNE winds at 15-25 MPH, hopefully it'll push some of the tide out so I can check out the mid to low tones out there. I'll let you guys know how it goes. HH john
