When you get a chance to hunt with a young person (your kids or families kids) that is interested in the hobby there is nothing better in my book.
My Nephew came up to stay with me and he wanted to go detecting so, of course we where there.
He wanted to see what the hobby was all about. This to me is one of the funnest parts of the hobby getting youngsters interested (away from the game systems).
It has been such good hobby for me and so good for me in so many ways. My nieces and nephews always laff when I said up until I got into detecting at 12 I was climbing trees and playing in the creek having beer can races. They have to ask me "Beer Can Races" ?? They look at me like I am 150 years old.
I headed to a place that I have hunted for many-many years that is real close by. It has given up many many old coins over the years.
I really knew the finds would be slim pickings but, it has quite a bit of shade so, that is where I went.
Here is the area that is surrounded by trees and plenty of shade..

I dug some older buckles and foolery items including some old buttons etc.
We where able to pull out a old 1c Trade Token which is the neatest find for today.
It is pictured below (my nephew is holding it in the left photo) then in the close ups I am holding it.

Then, he said about an hour or so he was exhausted and wanted to go.
I said OK we will head back to the truck and I will swing all the way back.
On the way back to my vehicle I got a really choppy solid 1 way hit broken other ways but, it sounded so Silver. It was the typical high mid left bounce to right and down with that what many refer to as a warble. I kind of refer to it as just a broken silver hit.
I dug to about 7" and low and behold the Roosevelt was accompanied by a nail. As usual that explains my broken hit and bounce.
Below on left is my nephew holding the Silver dime with the nail then me holding the dig silver dime and nail.
