Well, my buddy is getting ready for vacation tomorrow so, I was at it again by myself today.
I roamed around a tad thinking to which spot I wanted to head close by as I got a latr start and then I passed a home I had hunted years ago with my friend.
I said what the heck as it had been along time and pulled in. Nobody was home but, then as I was walking to my truck 2 guys pulled in behind me in a truck.
They got out and I asked if he was the home owner and he said yes. Well, I told him I had hunted it back when so and so owned it and meant to come back and never did.
I asked him if he would mind and he said well have at it and have fun.
He gave me his cell# and said come back anytime. He was just as super nice guy.
He said he was heading off soon after he got some things loaded up but, have fun.
I headed off into the area I thought I had not been and got a faint bouncy high.
I dug down around 8" and it was not in the plug bottom so, I cut some out of the bottom of the hole and it turned out it was in one of them.
I picked one up and could immediately see the silver edge. I knew it was either a Barber or Seated more then likely.
I walked over as he was working in the driveway putting things in his truck to leave and said here is a keeper still in the lil plug I cut from the bottom.
He held out his hand and I asked him to hold it so, I could get a pic.
He said what is it and I said either a Barber Dime or a Seated most likely.
After the picture he cracked here open and he was surprised as well as his buddy. He thought it was amazing to find such a neat old coin. He asked how was it so nice and I explained the ins and outs of coins and how they get affected.
Well, the house was built in the later 1800's so, I told him I am sure there are plenty still out there as I had looked only once before with my friend years prior.
We talked some more then he said he was leaving but, to stay and hunt.
Well, I did not manage much more but, I did manage a decent 1883 Indian.
Before I left I had to snap a picture of the tree in the yard as this thing is humongous.
Here is the ginormous tree base. I was parked close to it so I will have to move and hunt around this big one.

Here is my lucky first dig that the home owner is holding in his hand with the coin still in the lil plug piece.

Here she is as I went back and splashed her off where I dug her after we all looked at her and chatted. Also, a pic of the Indian as I dug her.

Here is a close-up of my two keepers for the day back home (minus the junk).

In the 32+ years of detecting I have been very fortunate/lucky on first digs this year for sure.
Thanks for reading and looking at my posts.
I hope everyone has a great upcoming weekend.
