Today's (10/29) short hunt gives me a 1885.

Got out early this morning with my buddy and we hunted a 1870s home. We wanted to hit a field we know held a church but, the field is still full of beans.
It was nice early as I actually got warm but, then the wind came in and things chilled off. At least we got rain yesterday so the ground got nice and soft again.
I am sore from the relentless hunting lately. I am just a little obsessed with this hobby I think.
I think I need to rest my knees and legs so, I think I will take tomorrow off I think from hunting. I know we are going Saturday but, I might get him out Friday with me as well I hope.
Well, I only took a few pictures today. Today, I got a neat Lil flat button with a design (shank intact). It is back marked Extra Rich Orange Colour, 1885 IH and 4 Wheaties. I don't dig to many one piece flat-tie buttons with designs so, this was a neat find in my book.
The first one is of the 85 Indian as I dug it.

The next picture is all our finds including the junk. My digs are on the bottom left. My buddy dug a 81 Indian and a wheat today. His clad is to the far right and mine is in the junk pile.

Next is a close up of my button and IH.

Last is a close up of the 1885 once it was cleaned up. It has a nice full Liberty.

Nice finds MikeO cant wait until you hunt that been field must be some really neat stuff hideing

Nice stuff Mike. Yea, don't ruin your knees - that would keep you from your hobby.
I can only get out once a week or so, occasionally twice, so I have time to rest up these old bones in between hunts. lol
I've made it a habit to hunt without kneeling. I'm in my 60s and I want to save the old knees. If I'm using a hand digger (rarely) I dig "spread leg", only kneeling occasionally if I have to.
