Today went to new Tot Lot and got lots of clad....

however I only managed to hunt about 1/3 of the lot due to time constraints, I had just dropped wife at her school and rather than waste gas going home forty miles back home and return to pick her up, I thought I'd go visit another school that I had not hunted before. You know, might actually find something old and interesting. Well after going to first school on my hit list and finding only a few coins (clad) and a imitation diamond stud earring, I thought that was disappointing, so went to next tot lot on list. Yes, I have a list of schools and lots I have hunted and want to hunt sometime, but it's so I can keep track of where I have been and when last I was there. You have to give these lots some time to replenish their treasures! Such as they are. Ok, to cut to the chase, number two was bonanza, and howdy. See photo below. Now this all happened in less than 2 hours from time I dropped wife to time I picked her up again. Man was my back aching too, so I guess it was good that I had to "speed" search, and I just got tired of picking up coins, yeah that's right I was overwhelmed with bending over every few seconds and digging into the sand and mulch, hell I found about six or seven coins in a very small area of less than a foot, pretty much a virgin lot. So I guess it will have to be finished and soon! Like maybe tomorrow.
Almost forgot, was using the newly acquired 5 inch DD coil on Delta 4000, mostly in all metal mode at first, then went to disc to stay away from trash, although did dig some low tones to make sure wasn't missing good stuff.
Ok, enough talk, look at finds.

Mike

Like you, I keep a tally, mentally, of the playgrounds at various parks and schools throughout our area. Over time I know which ones are close to worthless, which seem to replenish enough to hit once a month or every-other month, the better ones which are every week or two, and then the bread-and-butter playgrounds. The most popular sites with very good coin-generating equipment and are frequented by older kids and adults who have more in their pockets.

From the photo, and considering this is early March, you must live in a better weather state and/or you don't have a lot of detecting pressure in those types of sites. To be sure, you might have chanced upon an overlooked playground that could stand more frequent visits! We have endured a long, gray, very wet winter here in NW Oregon and that keeps outdoor activities at a very minimum.

Most playgrounds have wood-chip material in them and, unfortunately, many have used the shaved type of budget material and it get matted down quickly, then very wet and packed. Close to useless for generating quick loss-of-sight on dropped objects. We do have some better locations, and when we get some real Spring weather I know a few will be tilled, and other will get newer wood-chips. I enjoy it when they use a decent-sized larger solid hunk of wood. We do have many that are that way, however, and now simply need more favorable outdoor play weather.

The Delta is a good detector for the task of Tot-Lot hunting, and the 5" DD coil is a favorite of mine (as are most smaller-than-stock coils) because I can nab a lot of missed coins and targets closer to the metal structures. So, your Delta and 5" DD can make a great team, just as you displayed.

That was a very good 5

Well Monte, as always a pleasure to read your comments, this school is one that I had not hunted until that day, and due to time constraints I was not able to go back the next day. So it will have to ferment until the weekend or maybe one night this week after supper. I have a lot of irons in the fire this week, so MD'ing is on standby. Tonight I hope to be able to attend a meeting of the Jacksonville MD club. Anyway, thanks for looking and commenting. HH, Mike
