Today was one very strange day....

First, the coil on my Exp II went. What a bummer. Today was the first day the State parks are open to metal detecting and I just got started on one of 3 really big mulch playgrounds and it just died. The X-1 works. I even by-passed the X-1 switch but no dice. So, after moping around the house, I decided to take the CZ-20 to the beach and catch low tide. I was picking up some deep old coins and continued to work that line just hoping that the surf would give up something good. AND IT DID!!!

WOO HOO! A 14K ring with 20 DIAMONDS!!! (2 are missing though) It is one honkin' heavy ring! It even fits me perfectly. I'm going to take it to the jeweler's this weekend to see if the diamonds are real and what'll cost to fix it. It was pretty beat up but I gave it a good polishing with a dremel and some jeweler's rouge:

Well, thought that a bad day was going in the up direction but that wasn't the case... As I was walking down the beach I got a hit on what must have been a BIG piece of iron. I don't know if it fried something or what, but now MY CZ-20 DOESN'T WORK EITHER!!!! ARRGGGHHH!!!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! TWO DETECTORS IN ONE DAY??? To top it off, I took off my waders and realized I have a leak. Sometimes I wonder

Wow, Joe...sorry to hear about the technical malfunctions. But that's a hella nice ring you got there. On the bright side, at least you got that. Instead of two dead machines and a pile of pulltabs.
