Today was my first real serious attempt to MD a CW encampment with the F-70.

I ran it in auto tune with sen. at 80, speed Sl, threshold at +3 and all ran quiet. Ground was one bar and minerals was 60. That's good for here.
I have found CW items, but not in a battle field or camp. The trenches on the MT. tops are closed to me. I am trying to get my foot in the door. I talked to one man for an hour and he said I could MD on the land behind his house, but he was leaving and it would have to be another time. It was .5 miles from the base headquarters. He gave me a lead on a neighbor down the road. The man down the road had a farm supply store ten miles away. Went there and talked to him for 45 min. He said yes. His place was .7 miles from the headquarters. There were 2000 men camp here. There has to be something. This is the field.

I didn't grid it, I just went zig zag looking for a hot spot. The owner's son stopped to check me out. He wasn't the only one.

Mr. ground hog wanted to know what I was doing in his field.

Well, I got my treasures and proudly drove ten miles to show the owner my finds. I showed him one thing and he say it is a prong from a hay rake. Another thing-----part to a hay rake. Spring thingy--------hay rake. Hay rake, hay rake, hay rake, hay rake, hay rake, hay rake, hay rake,!!!!!
I didn't know there were so many parts to a hay rake.
I'm not giving up on this camp. I will get closer to the base headquarters. The place is mainly old homes and trailer trash on acre lots. A man at the museum here said when they get a gully washer, you can pick up Minnies by the hand fulls.
So, minus the can trash and the hay rake parts, this is what I ended up with.

No, but I have thought about it. I have heard of so many poachers in the area that people with detector aren't thought well of. Rich MT. above Beverly is a great place if it was allowed. All that is about an hour and 45 min. from where I live.

Rich MT. is what I was trying to think of. They were replacing some of the sidewalks in Beverly last time I was there. Would have been fun to see what was under them. I stayed in Elkins, lots of posibilities there as well.

There was an SC mustering-in camp here, where I live. I know a fellow who deer hunts the land. He says the owner prosecutes any detectorist who poaches on that land. Mr. Owner is not open to discussion about it detecting there, either - the answer is NO!
It's a shame, too, as the land simply lays there during the off season.

At the time of the CW. Beverly was the largest town in the area. The road from where I live was call the Beverly road and Beverly is over 70 mi. away.
