Somewhere out there is a brown truck with my machine on it. It was susposed to ship to my work place, but the guy shipped it to my home address instead.
But I made sure my wife will be home by 3:00 so someone is home when they come by. She had better be there too
Seems like I have spent a long time waiting on this thing.
Anybody ever done any gold nugget hunting with this machine?

It was just like Christmas because it had snowed all day today and when I got home from work I had a package to unwrap
Its great! Better than I had hoped. Great quality!
I air tested for tone and notch ranges at a 0 disc, 4 sens and -40 threshold and did great in the house even with all the electical interference. All the coins and rings hit over 8".
Tones sound good. Nice and mellow. I really like the gold tone The all metal mode has a wierd little undertone to it. I bet it has a purpose
Kinda of neat how the low conductors go up in value as distance increases and the high conductors go down in value as the distance increases. Now that is a neat trick. Wonder how Fisher accomplished that?
I spent some time filling in the missing information on my dicrimination range chart. Unfortuantly, it won't post as an excel spreadsheet. Happy to share it as an email attachment.
All in all I am quite pleased. Sending off the warrenty card tomorrow.
One thing though....one of the papers mentioned a video, which I would get when they had it ready. Is this already out?

this was a demo model. In that case it may be one of the earlier units that came out before the video did. In that case, call Fisher Lab or email them and request the video, they should send you one out at no charge to you.
Glad you liking the C$ it is a great machine.

& if your happy with your airtests, the best is yet to come (as the consensus is the C$ does not airtest well like say a 1270). The C$ kicks butt in the ground where it counts...or amid heavy iron trash, also where it counts. I've said a million times that all my old "hunted out" sites became like new again. It's actually fun to experiment with different settings & sweep speeds/angles in heavy trash. There's so many 'options', I'm still learning new things myself. Just keep an open mind, & don't get scared about the 50 hr. learning curve some may need & other stuff Some folks pick up confidence in just 5 hrs...everyone's different. Others who tried it for an hour & then sold it....guess it's their loss Again, sounds like you have done your homework on how it works, the # ranges, etc. I actually made my own menu for the type of colonial items I encounter. Here it is again (but really I dig anything that stays positive from diff. angles). Good luck & don't hesitate to ask questions.....HH, Bill

Thanks everyone for sharing in my excitement
Thanks for the picture, Bill.
I am doing something simular but more specific and detailed for site hunting.
Sunday, I went to Walmarts fabric section and bought a 1/2 yard of clear vinyl to make a cover for the control box. The top will have a pocket for target id charts that I can create and slip in or out based upon the site I am hunting and what I am looking for.
The first one is just a general range type of thing, with a number line from 0-51 that shows the exact range of each notch, the exact range of each tone, and the common conductive ranges on the number scale based on the manual information and the information I got from the air tests last night. It will form the background for every other card. I will have a jewelry card, a relic card, and then a couple of cards by date era, such as a 1850-1910 era card, and a 1750-1850 era card. Within a couple of months I'll have a 2000 era trash card to use in various ways. I may change some of them up as I progress depending on what works best. But looking forward to it. I'll play with it at a few parks and schools, then take it to some early, turn of the century parks and see what everyone else missed.

Very well thought out idea's Mike. Love the idea of the cards & raincover. You may have to patent that one I think your really going to enjoy using it given all you've already set out to accomplish.
One thing to keep in mind. My menu is very basic & just gives me a range as to what I can usually expect. It was also done through indoor airtests. You will find in the soil though, numbers may differ a bit due to factors like: coin position, depth, and mineralization. Indian heads buried have been a solid +20 at times....+13 other times (maybe deepies?) But, indian heads may be a bad example because the metals varied, I think some were a brass mix, etc. Point is, it's not set in stone that say a large cent is always a +34. Here, for me they are usually a +31. Either way, any solid signal in the 20's 30's would be "diggable" anyways as that's the coin "hot range". So slight variations are no problem. Anyhow, I always say you can't go wrong digging all + signals.
Please post a picture of that raincover if you can. Speaking of covers, someone mentioned they use that Glad clear sticky plastic wrap for their detector boxes. That's a great idea...not just for rain, but to keep it from getting all scratched up as well. The poor man's rain cover

...the meter faceplate cover too,as I get them completed. I have the idea down, I just got to cut it out and glue it up.
I need to find a place to buy those rubber bumper buttons that I read about on John's site.
The faceplate cover will be just that, a slip on faceplate cover with the rubber bumper buttons built in for every touchpad button. Those touchpads are alittle awkward and every time I used one I was afraid of scratching the meter. Give me a couple of weeks and I'll have them done. Once I got it where I like it, I'll make a couple of extras and have a contest or something and give em away. Maybe make a little on the side for those that don't want to spend the time doing it for themselves.
