And I've got a few hours of daylight. Haven't completed a grand slam for several years. So I should head out and only dig shallow screamers.

Also a 1914 wheat with a mintmark is bubbling in H2O2, hoping it is a D.

Pictures and results to follow.

When ya don't want them, they are all over.

[size=large]I certainly hope you complete the slam, but really hope that mintmark on the 14 wheat is the D!! Keep us posted & Good luck!

Hello all,

I headed out for a couple more hours of detecting this evening. Tried some terrace strips a few blocks down from my house. After digging a few deep memorials I should have tried a new area. 20-20 hindsight.

And, the 1914 in the H2O2 with the mintmark turn out to be a delusion on my part. I don't have many holes left in the Wheat cents folder and that would have filled one more.

The seated is an 1859-O, pretty worn on the obverse, reverse much clearer. Also got a couple of crusty IH's. This site is a town up the Rock River valley from Beloit. For some reason the soil in Beloit is quite sandy and very kind to copper, east of here and apparently north it is more clayey and most of the older copper is trashed.

Guess I'll have to suffer through missing another grand slam by a silver Roosevelt. Back in 2004 I missed the Grand Slam because of the Roosie several times. Not sure how many times since without digging through a lot of records.

Oh well, at least got one seated for the year.

Happy Hunting Everyone

Really nice Chris, that's a hell of a feat. I've never found a seated anything(yet) but there's time...a hat trick would suit me fine! Do you have your Janesville permits and can they be bought on the weekend? I understand you have to get them at city hall? Any info would be great when you can and if you know. I've hunted Ft Atkinson once, didn't find much but didn't have the Explorer yet either....I'd like to get over to Jefferson,I have a feeling that may be a really good possibility, just gotta do some research about the "way things were and what still is". Ft Atkinson will definitely get a lot more attention when I can figure out what is still original ground...or close.
Great hunting!

When you are in a place where you expect Barber and only roosies appear you think to yourself, "I don't want this" LOL
