Today Finds

I had a chance to get out today to an school that was built in 1933. I usually don't post most of my finds. I was working a trashy section and found a Type I Standing Liberty Quarter at 9 inches. I can't see a year but I'll take it. Even though DAve Z. claims a CZ can't hit a quarter over 8 inches. That was all done with no fancy programming... :lol I also dug a 1907 V Nickel on the fringe of being detected. It was a very light tink-tink. I hope you all got out some this weekend.

PS I tried to keep the file size down that why the image looks somewhat blocky.

Nice finds! Those V nickels are rare and I've yet to find one of the standing liberty quarters. Where abouts are you? I had a nice find today and will start a post.

Thanks. I have found quite a few V nickels in the last couple of years. Almost all of the ones I have found lately have been with the 3D. I like the CZ's on nickels. I don't think SLQ are common finds anywhere... :) I live in Western Pennsylvania about 100 miles NE of Pittsburgh.

Some day I would like to find a SLQ. So far no go.

You sure got that 3D humming and please give us a report on the FZ-12 if and when you ever decide to take the 10.5" off. :lol

the 10.5' kicks butt at old parks

I've sure been impressed with the 10.5 on the 3D. I've had a few 10 inch holes for IHs which is exception around here for a 10.5 coil. I've dug the lightest tink-tink with the PP needle buried for a couple of IH. The 3D keeps it's ID ability very well at the fringe of detection. The 10.5 has been a welcome addition to the arnsenal... :)

Dave,

The rate you're going you'll find one next week... ;)

Went out after supper last night and hit an old ball field on the outside not fenced in. 8 inch 36 merc. and 2.. 6 inch wheaties were had in about an hour before the rains came. Glad I had my CZ7A which helped in the rain with the weatherproof design. As far as depth on a CZ perhaps the gentleman in question is not as adept as using a CZ as I have got more than one 10 inch target and several around a foot and all were dimes not quarters. To each his own I would guess...

Dan,

I was referring to a older (March) post and subsequent followup posts at http://www.findmall.com/cgi-bin/forums/dfx_classroom/whites.pl?read=34590 It's amazing what some people will post and try to lead someone to believe. Heck, I've dug IH at around 10 inches... they were whispers but they were there enough to make me dig... :) Like I said in one of my posts in that thread that my 3D/10.5 can hit a quarter at 11.5 inches in my coin garden. As many of you know I am not 'brand loyal'. I have received alot of static over time for telling it like it is. Like when I first bought my 3D and my Explorer (and buddy's Explorer II) would not even give a peep on the target that my 3D could hit. Alot of people said I had that set wrong and that. Don't get me wrong... I have my favorite machines but as far as just one machine for every instance I have not found one yet. I like my Explorer but it's not the machine to beat all machines and likewise with my 3D. Some people may think their machine beats everything out and I hope they keep thinking that... :lol HH!
