today at the railroad field and at a school playground

I first went to the playground at a local elementary school and found .49 cents including a 1946 nickel. And found a small clip. And I found a peice of copper balled up.

Then I went to the railroad field (it's a field that an old railroad ran across) I found .10 cents and a railroad spike.

How do you clean a nickel and how do you clean a railroad spike? Thanks for looking!

Yes but still trying to figure out how to make the nickel silver lol

There are a number of ways to clean the coin. If you have a tumbler you can put in some aquarium gravel, water and dish soap and tumble the coins for a few hours. Also one can use a tumbler with vinegar and some salt instead of the water and soap and tumble for about 30 minutes. Without a tumbler I would try baking soda dampened and rub the coin with that. Good Luck and HH.

Thanks so much
