To Tiny Tec or to not Tiny Tec.....That is the question.

I got a Tiny Tec pin pointer a while back and started carrying it around.

I tested it out when I first got it, and it works great.

Just one problem. I haven't used it sense.

Thanks to Tesoro and lots of practice I don't have a need for it.

I know where it is, Tesoro tells me that. But I got this thing in my back pocket.

The question is:

Why should I keep carrying this thing around?????

I think it may save more time if I just leave it at home?????

I think I'm going to carry a pencil and call it my pin pointer/marker.

Might as well diversify.

HH,

I carry one just in case - ya never know. One time you might find the need and your pocket is empty.
I have actually reached in areas where I couldn't swing a detector a few times and swung the Pocket Uni-Probe magic wand. Sometimes there's a surprise lurking in there.

And coins in muddy dirty conditions sometimes fool by failing eyeballs.

yep, I agree. Even with "specs" on sometimes that coin or whatever blends right in with the soil. I carry one in a holder on my belt and about a month ago I had a target that I thought was a nickel but I couldn't find it. Now I could have grabs handfuls of dirt and maybe found it but using the pin pointer located it right away. And it was a nickel with a brown patina.

I`m in the same boat. I Never had one and cannot find a reason to use one. but that's the same with cell phones and other luxuries.
I learned by feel and sense of position and I think i would lose that or be distracted with another instrument. I do carry a digger but mostly its my detector and a sharpened screwdriver is all I need.

Ok Tabdog,

If that Tiny pointer is just gonna sit on the shelf eating batteries I'll gladly swap you some silver rings for it.

I was unable to locate two targets today.
And it's happening more often!
Maybe it's time for a new prescription?

Can I send you a picture of rings?

I used to do the grab the dirt and swing it over the coil thing - I don't like to do that anymore.
After getting stuck by a rusted fish hook real good, and a razor another time - I'll use a pinpointer and trowel and work at the signal if the eyeballs don't see the target.
Not having a pinpointer can hurt sometimes.

I been chasing property corners for thirty some odd years.
The corners may not be what a person would expect.
Could even be broken glass burried in a pit.

The only time I wore gloves while digging was in the coldest
days of Winter. I'm not saying I'm tough, just stupid.

It's just hard to teach an Old Tab Dog new tricks.

HH,

Have a pin pointer with me most of the time. Use it when the target isn't immediately obvious which turns out to be fairly often. I've found it helps to speed up recoveries often enough that I seldom leave home without it. Sometimes helps to lessen the digging as well, which leads to better pr. Anyway, works for me.

Ditto on the sharp objects...
Got stuck by a syringe needle out aways along the side in a large city park... a hideaway kinda cove spot.
All I could do was pull it out and hope it had been left by a diabetic and not a HIV infested druggie.
I SHOULD get a pinpointer!
