Our family buries our pets with some of the stuff they liked to play with along with their collars. If I would have found that pet I would have simply just left it as they buried it and covered it back up. Each person would do things differently. But for you posting that you needed to get this off your chest means to me your feeling a little guilty? If so you may be able to return the silver back to the grave?
