To scuff or not to scuff?

Being used to Tesoros, I was a little surprised that the AT Pro did not come with a scuff cover for the stock coil. I think the scuff cover is about $15-$20. I'm not convinced I need one. Do you use a scuff on your AT Pro?

At the beach and in the water yes. Those coils are built Tough! I tried a coil cover and didn't like it.

Okay, I'm trying to figure out what you mean here - that you DO use a scuff cover, but only at the beach and in the water?

I use a metal free bed liner spray. Black sand getting under the cover makes for headaches on the beach and in the water.

I use a cover on my 5x8 coil when I'm hunting in the woods. Banging the coil against roots, rocks, etc will chip it.

I never use one! I guess if I was going to hunt a rocky area I would throw one on just for that hunt, but otherwise never. I beat the dog tar out of my coils (way beyond normal wear and tear). I had 1 coil fail on me in over a year and it was the coil wire, not the coil that went bad. Garrett replaced it free of charge with a brand new one. I expected them to take one look at it and say excessive abuse and charge me:lmfao: Customer Service is awesome!!

Great, thanks for the good info Diggin-it!

I dont use them but can understand in a rocky type hunting area where it would benefit.
