Just have to ask.............have you hit those right of ways of those pictures that you posted? I see you posting, but no pictures of any finds from what looks to be some good areas to hunt. Where do you live? Maybe I'll come out that way and get you rolling...............:twodetecting: Good golly man. Instead of taking pictures of potential spots to hunt, I would have been swinging a coil and taking pictures later.:clapping: Can't wait to hear how that area works out for you. HH.

I am going to hit that place. I had to find a place that sold construction vest and markers. Lowes does and I'll be hitting it soon. :detecting:

PS) Initially when I saw this thread directed at me I thought someone was ticked off at me or something, heehee.

Naw---Nobody's ticked off (lately anyway)! We just like pictures!--I don't have the camera and don't know how to post them anyhow-so have to just look at everybody elses.---Construction vest & markers????

Construction vest and markers were suggested to me by someone on here and it's a good idea. This is a public place and I have a right to MD there but some nosy neighbor will call the police and when they arrive they will probably tell me to beat it because they do not want people calling them every hour about someone digging their place up. With the vest and markers people will think I work for the city/landscaping company and not bother to call. I am just using a little bit hindsight to avert problems that could affect a potentially good area to MD.

Hey that's a good idea!---I think a lot of times people see what they want to see.--one time I was approached by a person thinking I was a park employee running a weed eater.--Another time someone came up to me thinking I was a city employee searching for underground water pipes.---Hope you find "plenty" in that area King.--Keep the trash in your pouch to show 'em the good your doing cleaning up the area.------Del

I think impersonating a construction worker is a much worse idea than just going detecting. Again it suggests that you are worried you shouldn't be there and you have every right to be.

As long as everybody fills in their holes, doesn't detect when the ground is dry, etc, etc. not doing any harm to city property, there is no reason for John Q. Public to get miffed. Not to say that Wacko B. HeadVoices or Mrs. Prudence P. Busybody won't take you to task occasionally. I've had that happen and police have been called, they check the local ordinances and explain to the aggrieved parties that its ok for me to be there, just as it is OK for me to be walking down the street or the sidewalk.

I'm always able to point down the block and ask if they can even tell there has been any soil disturbed. They can't.

I have a shirt that is navy blue and on the front in yellowish, orange it says "Undercover Police". I wear that one in the crack neighbor hoods and I hear idiots actually whispering to one another, that's not very smart for a police man to wear that shirt:lmfao: Now everyone knows who he is. The shirt is supposed to be a joke but it always amazes me the people that don't get it. Sure keeps the gang bangers away, though.

...and get out of your car, and get your gear together, and pick a starting point, and take a deep breath, turn on your detector, start swinging, and decide that's what you want to be doing, and concentrate on the task at hand. those nosy neighbors can just go smell poop... haha, i said "poop"!

If you are close to the road and wearing the orange or reflective vest, I can see that as being ok. I know many times I have been right near the curb digging a target and thinking I wished I had some brighter color on. On the minus side, the vest makes you very visible... to nosey-parkers, chatty people, children, etc. I have found keeping a low profile really does work best for me.

However, the idea of impersonation or seeming to be something you are not is likely to get you into more trouble than if you just do your thing.

I would just go for it. The worst thing that can happen is that you are asked to leave. If that's the case, you leave and that's that.

No way was I trying to get you or anyone else mad. I was just giving you a bad time, but in a joking way.:bouncy: I thought about getting one of those bright vests with the white reflective stripes, but not to impersonate a city worker. More for protection than anything else. I see bicyclists and motor bike riders wearing these vests so why not detectorists.:clapping: Hope to see some posts soon from this spot. HH.

On the other hand here you are swinging this "strange" device and digging into the park. What's the first thing people are going to do? Call the police. That is more visible more so in action that is not familiar to people in general than wearing a brightly colored vest. As far as me impersonating someone, who said I was impersonating someone. I am just wearing some reflective gear and people can think what they want. If someone asks me then I will tell them i am looking for old coins. I will not tell them I work for the city as then I would be lying and that potentially could escalate into trouble. I am just wearing a bright vest. It will not say,"City Worker" on it or what have you.

I took it the way you conveyed it. It was in a joking manner. I was replying factual as to why I had not done it yet.

Now that would definitely work! No one would bother me at all... except the police, heehee.

I can do all the swinging I want on the highway in my own personal vest picking up litter with the prison crew.
