I have been a "regular" at the Garrett Forum here at Findmall since mid December, and for a few weeks have been lurking here, enjoying posts about Relic Hunting.

Regrettably, I made my first posts here at the now infamous "Nexus" thread. I do have my opinions, but now I see it is useless to continue even reading that thread as it is down to a "War of Words" about a topic not really related to the Forum: Relics.

I'm here to learn about Relic Hunting and thanks to all who are posting very interesting information, in spite of the distraction.

This is, I think for "that cannonball guy" or anyone to reply, please..
Help,
I have pictures of an item found in Iowa on a farmstead with some history of a person whom served with Gen Custer prior to the LAST STAND.
Can you help identify this, please?
I assume it is Cast Iron since it is very attracted to magnet and rusty.
OD is 3 5/8" and height is half that. It is half a sphere.
The center on both sides appears to have rust that could be a bar or something?
It was found when digging on a farmstead in central Iowa..
I have several photos, but cannot find a way to compress to the 420KB max for the forum.
They are jpg photos of about 1.7MB and zip compression is very little help.
How can I get the photos out for viewing?
Thanks,
Bill Earney

There are still a few forum members that have problems posting photographs because they are too 'big' (in other words, too many KB's). I know there are a number of ways/programs to store photographs but hopefully the following simple steps which I personally use might help someone if they use the same program as myself..
I use 'Windows Photo Viewer'
Click on the photo you want to post
Click 'Open'
Click 'Paint'
Click 'Resize'
Enter '40%' (which will resize the photograph to below the 420KB that the forums require to post photographs).
Click 'OK'
Click 'Save' and your done!
