Of course imaging or profiling helps but that large object under your coil may be a Rolex watch, gold pocket watch or a jar of coins..etc...etc..sometimes I think we get too much info and leave goodies for the oldtimers with no meter but an experienced ear..
No am not going back to an old unit just stating my opinion..

I agree, especially on the deeper targets. A good solid repeatable deep signal is always worth investigating.

You are so right. Everyone nowdays is in such a hurry if the det. doesn't say its exactly what your after they go on. I realize digging every target is a wast of time, but by doing so we used to find lots of great treasures. Tin cans with money in them comes to mind. I once found a large tin can at an Indian camp, The reading was iron and large and deep. Turned out to be clear full of trade beads and other white man items.

I too agree. I dig 97% of all tagets and feel good about my results. I watch some guys on the beach and they seem as though they are off to the races and doing some kind of rat killin' or something. The quarters and ring I posted earlier with the new 1350 were found in an area that I personally watched 4 people swing over for two hours last Saturday morning.....and see what was missed????!!!

I would say how much a person digs depends on what they are looking for and the site they are looking at. When I hit a hot spot like I did the other day, I dug almost every signal, but in trashier areas a person should pick or choose a bit. If they spend all day digging trash in a small area they may be missing finds that could be had in a bit larger area digging less "junk" signals. If I'm on a site that I know is old and has a good chance of producing something interesting I will personally dig every target, but in parks where there has been a lot of pop cans and other trash run over I may skip over some of the signals.

Yeah years ago I found a buried gallon paint can with a stash of silver coins in it - 9 of which were Morgan silver dollars. Once dug up a flattened beer can full of probe holes but I was the only one to dig it up and find the roll of silver quarters buried under it. One never knows.
