WELL I COULDN'T TAKE IT ANY MORE. I MISSED LAST WEEKEND HUNTING, SO I TOOK OFF EARLY TODAY TO GET OUT.I GOT 7 WHEATIES,1 MERCURY,2 CLADS, AND THESE BULLETS. WHAT DO YOU THINK ?OLD OR WHAT?. THE ONE LODGED IN THE WOOD IS THE SAME AS THE ONE NEXT TO IT.I GOT A SIGNAL AND COULD NOT FIND IT UNTIL I USED MY POINTER AND REALIZED IT WAS IN A PIECE OF WOOD.I WAS DING TO KNOW WHAT IT WAS BUT DIDN'T WANT TO MESS WITH IT UNTIL I GOT TO MY VAN AND USED A KNIFE TO CUT ONE SIDE OF THE WOOD AWAY. I THINK IT'S COOL!!!! H/H JOE
 
Looks civil war to me Joe. If it is or isnt, nice find anyway!!!
 
The bullet in wood and the one of the same style appear to be CW Carbine bullets. I would need to see a good side profile pic of the dropped one to verify. The one on the left looks post war as does the one in the middle. Bullets in wood are getting scarce, good find. The 2 bullets on the left are post-war, but I would say the other 2 are period. I have found fired 3 ringers 200 yards away from the spot you described to me <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> I think there was a lot more going on there than our research indicates <img src="/metal/html/wink.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=";)">
