To buy the 50, or the 70

My old detecting buddy has been out of the detecting field for about 8 years, and wants to get back into it. He has looked at some info on all of the Xterras, and definitely wants to buy one, but wanted me to get on this forum and see which one he should buy. 95% of the digging will be Civil War relics, with the other 5% being beach hunting. He seems to think that the 70 is the only one with a "salt" mode for beaches. I personally doubt if he will beach hunt that much, but....Is the 70 worth the extra money? The only coil that will be used is the one that comes new on the machine. He has no computer, and is going to call me later tonight to see if I have found out anything. I appreciate any advice....THANKS!!

I just got my X-T-70 and have used it three times. Very easy to use and so far I have been very pleased. I have hunted the Cloyd Mt battle site in southwest Virginia, which has been hunted to death. In two trips I recovered 10 cw bullets. All of the bullets were 6" to 8" deep and showed a solid 32 om my meter. I just ordered the 10" DD 7.5KHz search coil. Everyone tells me this coil has found cw items to 12" or better. TomB

Short answer yes the 70 is worth the extra $$ IMO. Auto GB, Auto noise cancel, Track mode. You say you will only use coil that comes with it. In the end that may change. The 70 offers the flexability to use all coils if you want to.

The 70 is my 1st detector. Easy to use and allows you room to grow. I am very happy with it, Beale.

Call and have MineLab send you it free DVD. It explains the x-30,x-50, and the x-70.
