To answer my own ID Edge question...

Using a Coinstrike our area was loaded with rusty bottlecaps and they all registered as a coin..Fisher must have learned from their mistakes as ID Edge is basically a user friendly Coinstrike and had no such problems as didn't dig one rusty bottlecap...Hope this info helps someone on the forum. Nice light unit that works well and have a 6 inch coil coming to further have it (excell) in trashy areas...no pun on the Excel but its its just not an Edge....Jaclk of all trades I guess as have used a lot of Fisher units over the years...

Hey Dan, I just started using my Edge that I bought about a year ago. I think it's a great detector, too bad I waited so long to use it. The meters 36 numbers are much better than a meter that has only a few target icons. Can't remember digging any steel bottle caps that sounded like coins. Someone here said the CoinStrike coils can be used if you cut the ground wire that is in the cable, gotta slide the cable connector back to do it. The standard 8" coil is plenty deep but I might try a CoinStrike 10" coil for extra depth if I can find one at a reasonable price. I bought the Edge because several guys said it's great in iron infested places. I dunno, I think the Golden uMax is better there. HH, Dave

CoinStrike coils are getting hard to find, I would think you would have better luck finding ID Edge coils, I have a coinstrike with a bad coil and most of the replies I'm getting back is,
"Discontinued" none in stock!
The ID Edge is a later model machine.
