TM808 questions

I bought a new TM808 with the cave mode about 15 years ago. I have never used it but now have a chance to search for a cache someone thinks might be on their property. If the cache is a mason jar at say 1 foot deep how wide should I make my passes walking back and forth. Also will the TM808 pick up something that size.

The tm 808 should find a qt jar at 3 ft. You will have to criss cross the suspected area like north to south then east to west to make shure you get over the jar. Your answer is to walk the line and turn around and walk back the line or move over not more than a foot or two.and walk that line and then walk across your line in the suspected area.If you have some pvc pipe u can make an extension on your handle to get the detector another 18in closer to the ground. I have 900 pennies in a quart jar with the top at 13in to top of groound and it sounds off good, One nice thing the 808 WON'T pick up anything smaller than a pop can so small trash won't bother you that much. just a thought. If the jar is upright your spot is only about 6-8in wide maybe so go slow
