Titan 3000xd compared to BH Time Ranger

It's me again, I have almost gotten my whole family into this hobby now. I have the BH Landstar with a uniprobe, the wife has a Discovery 3300 with automax v4, both have found alot of coins and some other stuff but the jewels are not coming by.I have a prime hunting zone and friend of mine said that these units are not designed to pick out any gold unless I digg every hit. He states he has a 3000 and finds alot of gold with few digs. I think he is blowing smoke, I dig everything except iron and foil. My daughter is now looking for a detector so I have been reading alot on garrett, whites, BH, minelab, fisher,Tesoro, and they all have the same basic information, So I need to come to the proffessionals. So the question is if you have a prime area for hunting clad and jewels what would be the best performer? I like to dig the zinc pennys also, lately I have found enough to pay for my batteries. I understand it takes patience in this hobby, that I have I am enjoying this hobby every minute I can, I am excited to even get the pull tabs. To me the peace of mind is the greatest reward. I figure that my daughter probably won't stick with this so in the long run I could upgrade. Any thoughts on this? (sorry to bother)

I've never used the Titan 3000XD but I would have to agree, I think your friend is blowing smoke. If he can "find a lot of gold with a few digs" then he needs to quit his day job and hunt full time for a living. If any machine had that kind of success rate it would be the hottest seller on the market, and we'd all have one in the trunk of our car. Like I said, I've never used the Titan 3000 but I do own the Time Ranger. I've had it about two months and have been able to get out about four times. Every time I go out I learn something new and it is a powerful machine. Two things impress me very much; it's ability to accurately identify the target, and it's depth. I dig very few pull tabs, almost no junk, and my coin and other "keeper" finds has increased. It is no secret that gold often reads the same as nickels, and nickels are more difficult to find than dimes or quarters. Along with increased coin finds I am finding more nickels now than ever before. I haven't found gold with it yet but I know it is in my very near future.

I can't say one machine is superior to another because I haven't used all the other machines. Every serious treasure hunter will tell you the machine they use most is "better" for one reason or another. If they didn't believe it was better than the others they would be foolish to continue using it. Like always it comes down to the operator and how skilled they are at using their machine. My first detector about 30 years ago was a White. It was a good machine. My brother has a very nice White and he does well with it. There are a number of very good machines. I am extremely satisfied with the BH for a number of reasons. I would not hesitate to go against any other machine because I know my BH would more than hold it's own and in reality, I'm actually going against the other operator not just the machine.

You asked the question: "if you have a prime area for hunting clad and jewels what would be the best performer?" It would be the machine you know best. You've got a good machine and it will locate the clad and jewels and all sorts of neat things. Just be patient and keep swing the coil, the goodies will come. Soon you will be able to discern what is junk and what is real. You will dig less trash and take home more good stuff. It takes time to learn what your machine is trying to tell you. The fun part is, you get to find all sorts of things trying to figure out what it's telling you. I think I remember you saying you work for the parks department and have about 500 acres of prime real estate to hunt. I envy your hunting location. You have a gold mine and your machine will help you find it. Bottom line, don't pay any attention to the fellow that says his machine is somehow better than yours. Just learn your machine, take your time, be patient and the real test will be found in the pouch. Enjoy the Hunt!

Well, I am a prime example of how hard it is to find gold with a detector...I have yet to find a gold object...I have found enough nickels, pull tabs and screw caps to keep anyone happy, but no gold....I am reluctant to dig anything that comes up in the screw cap range, but maybe if I dig more of these, I might turn up something...Now if this dang weather would just break, I might be able to get out and hunt...lol

All at the beach last year useing a Discovry 3300 from radio shack

That's my problem!!! I need to move to the ocean shore!!!...Living inland makes it hard to score big also...We have some beaches around here, but they are a little drive away...I do plan on hitting more of them this year though...

I think the trick to finding gold rings is to hunt where gold rings are likely to be lost.---Volleyball courts---fresh water & salt water beaches...where people are theowing frizbees. I find one of the most productive sites are childrens playgrounds. Under the swings I consider the best. Mother swings baby and a ring may slip off her finger. I recently found a 14k gold ring with three diamonds under the swings in a what I call a Tot Lot(childrens playground) My best jewelry find was at a local fresh water beach. I found a man's diamond ring with 5 nice diamonds. I had it appraised by an apprasial service. It appraised for $2000.00. Yes you must dig all targets above iron but only where gold rings may be. Not dig everything just where ever you happened to be.......Jack

I didn't mean to come accross as not being satisfyed. I enjoy my Land star and I hunt playgrounds, swingsets, volly ball, soccer, football, baseball and all the other place's. I understand patience but what I am saying is that another member of my family now wants to get envolved with this hobby, so now I have a perfect chance along with the wife's blessings to purchase another detector. So I just thought well should I up grade or just get another of what I have. I have a prime hunt area and my day is coming to find that spiecal something. I get a thrill out of finding the things that are worthless because they are different and neat. I keep most all of my finds even the beer bottle tops, I have them all in a bag and when I have to many I will turn them into scrap iron and use the money for more golf tees or batterys. I think this is a wonderful hobby any time I pull my machine out I will pick up something. Ther are no clubs in my area so I was just asking opinions from the only pros I know. Thanks and HH

jewelry. Tesoros range from 10 to 17 KHZ. But I'll have to say, EZriders photo sure is impressive. Which Bounty Hunter model is equivelant to the 3300.

Closest appear to be the Fisher F4 and Titan 3000xd.

the f-4 would be much better than the 3300, even though they look the same, faster prosseser, modulated audio, and improver gb but the gb doesnt carry over to discriminate mode on the f-4, and better rod aassembly

You must dig foil to get a chance at those ladies rings... they look the same to the machine. ALL of 'em!

Water activity is best for lost rings.
Think about it for a minute...

The cold water shrinks constricts the blood vessels and the hand and fingers a bit, and the activity sends the ring flying.
Volleyball and such?
Well, impact of the hand on the ball swells the hand and fingers...
And, pretty difficult to get a ring off a fist!
It's like handball... whew! That'll puff up your hand in a heartbeat! I've cut rings off for friends with a set of dikes.
Even our local joggers and walkers clench a little dumbell weight... or cellphone or Ipod!
Frisbee sounds good, though!

I'm looking to find a wading area for wealthy folks at a weight loss center!

rmptr...Now that is thinking outside the box...rofl...
I think that would be the ultimate hunting spot...
That size 15 finger just went down to a size 12...
