Tips on low lake huntin, please..

Well received my AT Pro and pin pointer yesterday..
Going with a friend that frequently hunts this lake with great success..
So this will be my first venture with this AT..
Was thinking Pro mode with iron discrimination at 30??
I admit I haven't had any time on an AT but have done detecting off and on for 30+ yrs, mostly off..
So any tips will be appreciated. Wish me luck, I'll need it....This guy I'm going with has found as many as 16 rings in a day... Thanks..

If there's not too much iron around, run with Iron Audio On. This is helpful in identifying those pesky bottlecaps. You'll hear the low iron tone on both sides of the high tone. If there's a lot of iron around run it with IA off and turn it on to check those high tones. The DD coil loves the bottlecaps. I run at Iron Disc 20, Sens at 75%, Pro Mode. Dif everything with a Medium or high tone except to pesky BC's.

Thanks guys for the tips..
Cross my fingers and see what happens..

So I will run in pro mode, zero, iron disc at 20..
Sens at 75%?? Where do I see that setting at, sorry about that.. I have watched the training videos and I still can't tell if he is bobbing the coil with the manual ground balance button depressed until it settles down then releases it or what.. when you set the ground balance do you press it once and then again holding it till it settles down.. That I'm confused on to, thanks.....

Use the + or - buttons to set your sens, six bars is a good starting point.

Hold in the GB button and bob the coil four or five times then release the

GB button, if you don't have the A T Pro manual you can download it from

the Garrett Site

6 of 8 bars on the Sens. scale. Hold the button down while bobbing the coil up and down until the machine is returning no sound and the GB numbers have settled on one spot and then release it.

In the pro mode if you get a soft repeatable high tune and no visual display numbers--dig it - it's usually a deep goody.

Thanks to you all for the info.. Just getting in.. In the first 10 minutes I had 4 Lincoln's.
Found one steel band about 10" diameter (deep), maybe a wagon hub band.. That was it..
I think my low lake hunting is over.. So many people had been there it looked like a mine field had been detonated...lol There was a guy there besides my friend and I, he said they hunt it weekly and there are always people hunting it..

If your still getting a bit of chattering falsing, lower the sensitivity till it goes away. I run around 5-6 in my silver mine park, GB is between 85-91 there, I try to GB about every 30mins. And make sure it's a clean spot with no signals when you GB.

Also, try to bob the coil as close to the ground as possible, from ground level to 2" high up and down till the sound quiets. GBing it as low to the ground as you can really helps.

Thanks TGC,
I will remember that today when I get out there..

Thank you Leslie and Ralph..
Will try all these tips that all you guys are giving me.. Much appreciate your time for replying..
PS: Yes Leslie, even downloaded the manual and training videos to my phone.. Good tip..
