Tips on gold...

It's my 3rd season of detecting. I have found many good things, but I have yet to find a gold ring. I dig lots of pull tabs, bullets, and foil, but the gold rings elude me. I am detecting in locations where there should be a few gold items...any advice?
 
Location is of course very important. Try working on technique. Get those iffy signals out of the ground faster so you get more of them. I mostly use only a screwdrive and my Pro Pointer to locate and pop shallow targets out of the ground. Keep searching......the gold rings are out there.
