TIPS 4 using MY PIONEER202!?

PIONEER202^WI^

HEY FRIENDS...ANY TIPS ON SETTING MY DETECTOR?? MY MANUAL SAYS FOR COINSHOOTING SET THE DISC-KNOB TO THE 3o'CLOCK.....YET EVERYONE IS SAYING SET IT 100% COUNTER CLOCKWISE...WITH SENSITIVITY AT 2-3o'CLOCK...???? dONT UNDERSTAND IT...AND NOT MUCH LUCK...DOES THE MACHINE WORK BETTER W/ BRANDNAME 9VOLTS OR WHAT? J/W...
ALSO, MY DETECTOR SOMETIME GOES OFF WHEN IT TOUCHES THE GROUNDS NO MATTER WHERE I SET IT...FRUSTRATES ME. DONT KNOW IF IM JUST OUT WASTING HOURS. THEN WHEN I DIG FOR A SIGNAL...I END UP GETTING NO SIGNALS AFTER DIGGING...OR SOMETIMES I DIG AND DIG AND IT KEEPS GETTING A SIGNAL AND I PINPOINT IT VISUALLY BUT NVR COME ACROSS NOTHING...SO I FILL MY HOLE. MAYBE THIS IS THE REASON 4 A PIN-POINTING PROBE? I ASSUME. jUST THOUGHT i'D ASK...

hi, i have had my 202 for about 2 months. first i only use energizer in it.second 3 o clockis to far you will go right over nickel and older copper pennies
i set mine @ 12 and sensitivty @ 1 or 2,i too have dug and dug only to find out there was a rather big target about 6'' away from where i thought the target was
i guess that just means we need to get to know our machines better.im sure some others will and more but thoses setting have worked great for me i have found
about 5.00 sofar i dont get to go that much best find sofar is a 1910 penny at about 7 '' deep now that was after a shower which i think prover a wet ground will allow you
to get deeper hits when not searching a wet ground the deepest find was at 4 to 5 '' deep hope that helps.main thing just stick with it and learn.HH later

OK...first...When your first starting out, you want to keep the DISC/Notch knob fully CCW...this lets the detector pick up ALL metals...I carry around in my finds pouch at all times, a Quarter, Dime, Nickel, Zinc penny, Copper Penny, pull tabs (both types), screw cap, and a good size nail...If I want to set my DISC to ignore up to any of these, I drop it on the ground and do so...Same with notching out Zinc Pennies...You want your SENS no higher than Noon when first starting out, until you learn how high you can set it without the detector going nuts...I keep mine set at 9 o'clock sometimes...this gives me about 5-6" of depth on dimes...Hunt in the DISC mode for General hunting, and in the Auto Notch mode for coins and Jewelry.
Most false signals and idle chatter from the detector is caused by weak batteries, or the SENS being turned up too high...If you use rechargeable batteries, and you can not charge them to hold at least 8.7 Volts, do not use them...

Thanks friends! Maybe those tips will call for a better day on my end.? I went out yesterday and found a one 1971 Qtr..within the first minute. Also some junk..within the following 2hrs. got a tan though. I really enjoy this site..and I always try any tips given to me right away..
I tried the auto-notch..and tried notching out different items but I dont get it...because the items I wave under are still found after I just notched em out. Really dont understand that part...thanks again though. Keep it coming w/ those tips...HH.
