IT has been well established that for shallow targets the pinpoint hotspot on the 250 coil is the front center of the inside oval on the coil - but for deeper targets it's a different story for as the target gets deeper this pinpoint hotspot moves backwards towards the center of the coil.
You can gauge this by how far you have to drag the coil back before the signal quits. If you only have to move it back an inch or so the target will be under the front center tip of the inside oval or very close. If you have to drag the coil back three or four inches the target will move to near the center of the inside oval. On deeper coins when you have to drag the coil back nearly the length of the coil the target will be near the center notch in the inside oval. This also applies to coins laying on the surface at the base of grass several inches high. With a little practice you can have this down pat.
