Tip of the month.:clapping:

As this article says, we all have dug plenty of those pesky zinc pennies and this is a good idea which I copied and was submitted by Jerry Davis from our Hood Canal Detector Club newsletter.

TIP OF THE MONTH: We've all dug those pennies that have started dissolving and wished we hadn't but, I've come up with a way to use those unwanted pains in the... neck. Take those deteriorating pennies and throw them on your roof. That's right, I said put them on the roof of your house, especially if you have moss growing on it. As these pennies dissolve the water running off of them has Zinc in it and it kills moss like you wouldn't believe. If you go to Home Depot to get something to rid your roof of moss, what you usually get is a Zinc strip to nail to the apex of your roof. This way, it doesn't cost you anything. This is a very good time of the year to do it also.

Thanks for the good idea Jerry.

 Thanks Good Idea !

My biggest enemy around here is green stuff (I don't know what it is....moss or algae or ??) growing on my brick patio. Takes forever to powerwash off and I have sprayed it with vinegar that seems to kill it off. Do you think if I throw a bunch of the rotted zinc cents on the bricks that it will take care of the problem? Do the zinc cents need to be dissintegrating to work??

excellent idea. :clapping:

In your case Erik. you might have to glue those zinc pennies on your patio, but I would stick to just using them on your roof. What you might try is a mixture of bleach and water and that might help out your problem on your patio. GL & HH.
