Do not use JE mode if you have to set sensitivity lower than 40 to keep it stable.

That would be the same as using high beam in fog and going just 10mph, because you can't stand the reflections.

Better go back to DE mode and use higher sensitivity settings.

It works better the other way around: If you can run DE mode with sensitivity over 80 and maintain the detector stable that is an indication that you can try JE mode with a sensitivity at about 60. If stable work your way up on the sensitivity.

if you had to run your Ac sens below 60 to maintain stability, you had your Preamp gain too high. The two had to be balanced properly for maximun performance.
Same with the 75. If there is too much falsing or chattering, you just cant hear those soft deep ones. Better to run it a bit tamer. I use Je whenever possible, but performance in De is nothing to sneeze at!! (Especially in areas where separation is more desireable than raw depth, like iron ridden sites)......
