Tip from an ex newbie Explorer user...

Get a good pair of earphones and crank them up as those deepies are awful soft...at least to these
old ears...5th trip with the Explorer. 9 wheat pennies 6 to 10 inches deep in two hrs in an area
that has seen many a detector. Most were in the 8 inch range 1 in the 6 inch and two in the 10 inch.
All registered where they were supposed to on the meter. Right before I quit got a slight beep-beep
meter showed it to be 12 inches and yep right where a dime should be. Dug a huge hole and uncovered a 1934 mercury dime...Don't E-mail for any tips as I haven't got out of the preset mode yet. Tip number two don't give up on this unit, going to be a long winter till spring, but I will know this unit inside out by then...Don't expect a 6th trip out as I think I have made my point...

What do you have your gain set at? Bump it to 7 and those deep ones are plenty loud.
