tip for the new people

As most of you know on here I use a MXT most of the time but I also have a Garrett Ace 250 for back up, well the snow just melted off last week so we got mud and water everywhere . Its hard to find a place that your holes won't fill up with water as fast as you dig them . But went to city park today using the Ace cause didn't want to get my MXT all muddy so we hunted a hillside where the digging was a little better . Any way here's the TIP when ever you dig a hole even if you find a target always check that hole before you fill it back in . This happen to me today I got a crazy signal but decided to dig it and found a small nail then before I filled it in checked it again and still had a signal , what I found in there below the nail was a 925 silver toe ring . Most of the Veterans know this but thought I would pass it on to the newer people . Here's pictures of my finds not alot but any day I find silver is a good day ..

Very good advise! It's a habit for me to check the hole twice and more if there are more targets down here. It's always nice to pull out a few old coins in one hole. Great finds there and nice ring. Glad you could get out. Stay dry and HH, Nancy

You will often find pocket spills where you find one coin also. It is wise to check around the hole too......My tip is to not bet on the horses.....or spend all your money in an Indian Casino.....

I learned that lesson the hard way. A friend and I were detecting and I hit a good signal. Popped a silver Air Force ring that had been hit by a mower. Well I was jazzed and replaced the plug I had cut and moved on. My friend later happened to swing over that hole and got a quarter signal. Out came a Barber quarter. Needless to say I double check my holes now before moving on.

Good advice us new people can't hear too often. I regularly find myself filling in my holes carefully only to remember to re-scan my hole after the fact. Luckily for me I haven't had a painful lesson like Todd in Beaverton but I did have a good reminder of this rule at a new spot I hunted several weeks back. I had never run across a substantial coin spill, up to this point, so when I got a bunch of very strange signals I was a bit confused. I was pretty happy to dig up 2 quarters on my first target, After I filled the hole, I scanned it again, got a signal, re-dug the hole and retrieved my first Sacagawea Dollar. Now I'm really happy as I fill the hole in again. You guessed it ! Another scan, another signal and another Sac Dollar. 2 quarters and 2 Sac Dollars in one hole but I had to dig it three times. All I could think was people like me shouldn't be allowed to play with sharp objects.

Rechecking holes has paid for my DX-1 probe (makes it easy to do with a probe also) - once got 3 rings and 2 bracelets from one hole. All silver. That was a good day!

5 silvers in 1 hole ! No way, that's insane ! Now that ones gonna be in my mind EVERY time I get a High VDI $ 1.00 signal. Do you recall what your machine was reading on that find jwilkes ?

I've had that happen to me a few times. Yea...ALWAYS double check.

BTW, It was just the toe ring you found, right? The toe wasn't with it?

Ha Ha no toe in the ring , I have no use for a extra toe . There was the nail in there tho .
