My Tiny Tec came in today and it's not as tiny as I thought it might be.
It came with three uncirculated golden colored US mint $1 coins. They are the presidential series coins.
I air tested the Tiny Tec and the Bounty Hunter.
The Tiny Tech wins at detecting distance. Bounty Hunter about 1/2" on a penny and Tiny Tec just over 1" on a penny.
Price. Tiny Tec Is cheaper.
Sensitivity, Tiny Tec wins hands down. Tiny Tec can detect these small objects.
One is a small piece on 14K gold I cut off some broken jewelry I found.
Two is a very small piece of aluminum foil that is not doubled over. Single thickness and about 1/8" wide.
Three is a just a small round piece of fake jewelry.
The Tiny Tec wins all three. The only one the Bounty Hunter would pick up at all was the small round piece of fake jewelry and it had to be pressed to the tip to get a week response. That would not happen in the field.
The Tiny Tec responded to all three.
I checked the Tiny Tec detection distance a little closer and this is what I came up with.
A modern penny: 1"
$1 included coin: 1 1/4"
8" metal pliers 2 1/2"
Tiny Tec detects at about the same distance off the end of the tip as it does off the side of the tip.
Bounty Hunter detects better off the side of the tip than off the the end of the tip. It has to touch a small object off the end of the tip to get a response. That makes it hard to find some stuff at the bottom of the hole.
Tiny Tec can be set to automatic shut off when the tip is pointed up. That way you don't have to set the sensitivity when you use it. That feature can be turned off to detect strait up or if you don't want to use it.
Tiny Tec is not tiny. It's too big to put in your pants pocket and it's just over a foot long. Odd shape too.
Tiny Tec is not a Sturdy Tec. The housing is flimsy plastic. The instructions say it will withstand a 25 pound force pushing the tip into the ground. But that force would rip the housing off the rod. The 25 pound force must be at the knob on the end of the rod.
Bounty Hunter is not very sturdy either. And the battery keeps falling out.
Here are some more photos.
Conclusion. I really like the Tiny Tec much more than the Bounty Hunter.
The Tiny Tec has a sound I can hear better.
Tiny Tec has a red light when it gets a response. Bounty Hunter has no light.
Tiny Tec has another light to illuminate the target. Not BH.
The Tiny Tec doesn't vibrate.
But I could never feel the vibration of the Bounty Hunter. So BH can't even win there.
I like My Tiny Tec and hope I don't have to use the 25 month warranty which Bounty Hunter doesn't have that either.
