Times, they be getting tough!:detecting:

Well, the reality of the summer months has finally set in down here in the mid south. Temperatures have been pretty good for hunting early mornings. Over all, we have been below norm pretty much all summer. Right now, though, digging conditions are dry and ultimately tough, and one must pick their spots. As a result, my hunting time is about half of what it normally is.

Did, however, get in a couple of decent hunts this past week. One, with another detector and did manage to dig one good hole with it. Out of it, I got 2 wheat cents, a Buffalo nickel and 2 Mercury dimes. Oh, and also a broken bottle neck with a cap on it.

Yesterday morning I hit a big ditch that I felt being lower I might find better digging conditions. They were, a little bit. Over the course of 2 1/2 hours I managed 2 wheats, a 191? and 56, 2 Roosevelt dimes, 54d and 56d and a 1967 Virginia Beach Va dog license and a 1929 Mercedes Tootsie Toy car....with all four wheels in tact. I like finding toy cars.

Guess I'll grab the wife and head off for some sand and water, If I can catch her. She might be a little miffed at me. She has been talking about her next vehicle being a Jeep. I handed her the Tootsie Toy car yesterday and said, "wouldn't you rather have a 1929 Mercedes then a Jeep?" Don't think I scored any points. HH jim tn

Ha! Wimmen! They do look pretty good in a Jeep though, and thats all that really matters!...That was a nice dual merc spill you found! You generally do pretty good in the ditches..good to see they are still paying off for ya...wondered what was up with you, just this am...thanks for the post!:beers:
Mud.

Cool finds! I know exactly what you mean about the hard digging. I have a nasty looking blister that burst on my right palm, from trying to dig a small hole in the dirt. It kind of hurts, too, lol.

Nice old silver and wheats as always, Jim! I'd love to take that '29 Mercedes for a spin - what a set of fenders on that baby!

Sweet goodness there Jim, heat or not!!! Guess those car shop boys now days would turn the '29 Mercedes into a "rat rod" And cool dog tag, hope that pooch rode all that way in a station wagon and not have to hoof all those miles.

2 wheaties and 2 silver dimes, I could go with that. Nice finds, Jim. I found 63 cents in clad yesterday and was glad to get out a couple hours, but it was a land hunt and I'm sore all over today. Hope to hit the water this week, but will be extremely lucky to get in just one hunt this week.
