TimeRanger

Do you recommend the Time Ranger? If so can you elaborate? There are very few videos for it. I go way over board on research LOL. I have a Platinum any pros or cons versus the TM over a Platinum?

I can recommend the TR. I have one and have been using it for over two years. The TR is easy to use and light weight less than 3 pounds with the 8" coil. The TR has good depth especially on coins. My TR has hit dimes over 6" deep.
I'm not sure if BH is still making the TR. I know they have a similar unit called the Titan 9000. If you can find a TR for a good price, I think that you would like it.

I hope this helps.

I picked up a Time Ranger several years ago in a trade deal. I gave it to my brother, and he has found many good finds with it.
Including wedding rings, Diamond rings, and Silver coins....

Based on his usage it seems to be a fairly good functioning detector..

I have a "version 4" Time Ranger and a Platinum. I like using the Platinum better than the TR. My wife prefers the TR. They are both very good detectors with good depth.

IMO my Platinum ground balances better and is more stable with fewer false signals. Usually, depending on conditions, better ground balance = more depth. The display screen is much larger and easier for me to read at arms length or in low light. Only one 9V battery required for the Platinum vs two for the TR. For me, the Platinum is physically balanced better and is easier to swing.

If you already have the Platinum I think the TR would be a step backward if you're looking to replace the Platinum.

Well picked a TR up on Amazon for $167. Haven't had it out yet, hopefully this week. Wasp, It is going to my wife as well LOL

jicra, I'm sure your wife will love it.

Best of luck to you both and happy hunting!

Went out with the TR today didn't find much but was very impressed with the TR. I found a carpenter staple at 8in. Was very frustrated at first thinking wasted so much time on that until I realized it had just found that at 8in OMG. My friend was using a ATP and was dumbfounded. Took the Platinum with as well, It just bounced all over the place on every signal. Not sure what is going on there. New batt as well.
Long story short LOVE the TR. Say hello to my new friend

That is impressive! Make sure you get a good ground balance over clean ground with the Platinum. A so, so ground balance could explain the bouncing signal.
