Timer fuses before and after being detonated.

I'm not going to try and get technical here.

But this is what these timer fuses look like before they are mounted on a round.
I got this photo of the web.

Once detonated it is rare that they survive in tact, but some do. I have found
lots of pieces and fragments but only two in tact. They are very rare.

Here is what usually happens to them.

HH,

Those ARE really neato finds Tabdog...
I've never come across anything like 'em.

You've got great places to detect, there in ArkieLand!

I have had the two intact fuse timers inspect by a munitions expert.

It is possible to find un-exploded charges. They can be very dangerous.

I proceed with more caution now and am interested in knowing the areas

I'm dealing with.

HH,

Yup!

I met a couple characters that used to run around the desert years ago... Patton's Desert Training Center was among the area they ranged over... "Yeah, we find landmines, time to time," they said. "We tie 'em to the back of the jeep with about 50-60ft of rope and if they make it to the hiway we pick 'em up and sell 'em at the trading post!"
Too much fun for me! I'd probably have to pass on that kinda fun!

Haven't run across anything like that here in North Idaho. I expect might find a few similar goodies on the practice range near Mtn. Home Air Force base in the southern end of the state.
