Got out for a short hunt Sat; Sun was a washout in Ct. I went back to the old wooden schoolhouse and found an 1860 fattie IH and a 1901 IH.
The political GOP elephant I think is a cool find. It has GOP on the flag and on the elephant's side is the question "IS THE GOP DEAD?".
Seems to be a timely question for the present, comming out of the past.

That's a neat pin or badge, and nice IH's. Trying to think when that question might have been asked before, maybe FDR period, but it looks older than that.

Hi Chris,
Under the question on the elephant's side there are the letters KIT (possibly MIT) The back is flat and there is no evidence there was ever a pin back or attachment.
Also appears to have remnants of red paint, faintly evident on the head.

Neat piece of political memorabilia. You may want to Goggle it to see what comes up. There are also books o n political memorabilia - the author's last name of Hake comes to mind. Neat finds and happy hunting.

Please update us if you're able to find out how old the elephant is Bruce. That is a cool find and always neat to try putting a date to it.

Good huntin'

Thanks Bryce,
Haven't had time to research but I also listed it on another forum under "What is it"

To me that looks like "NIT" underneath the question, and maybe some additional letters before/after? (Maybe "UNITY" or "UNITED"?).

Intriguing find.

You're right DirtFlipper, it is NIT not KIT - must have been a typo when I posted. (I'll recheck to make sure it's only 3 letters)
