Time to introduce myself...(Long sorry)

Hey gang...I have been reading the post here since early Dec. I live in Va bch and have 2 detectors a Quicksilver and a Whites surf Pi Pro.

I have been keeping up with you guys in Va bch, and enjoy all your post. I Have been detecting for a few months now...and really could use some advice about these 2 detectors because they are so different.

First off let me say to the Va bch guys..I think I am detecting somewhere you guys don't go, because I was surprised at the amount of quarters and 30 year old beer taps I have been finding with the quicksilver. On the other hand I spent the day today at chicks beach w/surf pi pro and you all will be happy, because I cleared all the trash for you today..no kidding..my pockets were so full of nails and junk I had to empty them before heading back..on the way back I counted over 78 dig spots one way and had full pockets again when I got back to the car...That comes to my question (sorry this is so long.)
I have used the surf pi pro twice now and I am exhausted... it misses nothing..However I haven't found anything with it. Can someone tell me
how they discriminate with this machine. are the good finds a lower or higher pitch? How will a gold ring sound?..I could be wrong but I am thinking it might be a faint tone. With the quicksilver the tones are easily discernible, and you can discriminate iron. It works in water put is not water proof.

Anyway Nice to meet you all and hope to hunt with some of you guys soon.

rob, i live in baylake pines, just a few blocks up from chics going south.

get back to u soon

are desinged to do just what u said............."Does not miss anything"

i can not help u on the quicksilver deal, looks to be some type of bounty hunter. maybe someone on here will reply with some advise

where do u live in va beach?

max

Max I live in Chesopeian Colony. Va bch Blvd. Hey also wanted to mention..I have a cabin in Appromatax with 5 arces..never been there with a detector. But it could be interesting.

have a lot of summer detector guys that do not hunt the beach in the fall and winter, they stick with the dirt.

i just mainly stick with the damp sand and shallows year round

tony of tidewater just acquired a faily new PI Pro.............week of so ago............probably his 30th. or so, he may sound off here and u 2 can hook up.................va beach ron has pro and rod racer has detector pro PI...........i think..........sam, so u can get some pointers on it.............very easy machine to use as u have already found out.................just that va beach and surrounding areas are not condusive to PI work

GH told me you have a lot of trash down your way.. I don't have little bits of wire... :) But I do have over 175 rings with my PI PRO :)

I also don't hunt the wet sand as much as you do, I tend to stay out in the deep water but I'm hunting in Long Island Sound where I have protection from the ocean and undertow..

Maybe the PI is no good for your beaches but its tops for mine :)

I have'nt had it out past my ankles yet..But I will.
I like it. I am finding fingernail thin pieces of wire deep too.
I am gonna try and post a pic of a saint micheals I found the other day, but i found it with the quicksilver..really cool find

You're going to dig alot of holes with a PI and a lot of them are going to be very deep.. Bobbie pins and nails will give off a broken choppy signal.

Pull tabs and bottle caps are going to sound good even to a discriminating machine so there is noway around them.

I've had days where I dig a 100 or more holes but its never all trash...

I listen for whisper signals they are very soft sounding almost like a break in the threshold and these signals are usually very deep and usually a good target. If it was deep iron or a can the whisper would progressively get louder and then sound like an elongated woo ow type signal and I don't continue to dig because 9 times out of 10 its a big piece of iron.

Finally a PI PRO doesn't discriminate...

Craig thanks alot. I was wondering about the whispers..real low and faint. Those nails and coat hangers and iron I found today were all loud beeps. I even found a fence pole ankle high in the water. I took it out along with all the other trash today. I really like, and I think once I get waist deep its gonna be great. I am so hook. I went out 3 days in a row for 3 hours each.

OK Rob, as far as I'm concerned Craig's council there was good stuff! Go get 'em! You are doing something different than the rest of the pirates in VA beach, ya'll better watch Rob!
