Time to buy

Well, after reading the E-Trac forum the last 4 weeks, it looks to be time to retire my DFX and move up. I have been waiting for 3 years now until one of the detector companies came up with something really new. Looks like Minelab has done just that. Think it would be fabulous for detecting around ghost towns here in Colorado. Had an Explorer right after they came out and liked it, kicked myself many times for selling it. Also want to say that this forum has some really great posts and I enjoy it greatly.

Have an ethical question. What do the experienced detectorist have to say about detecting around cemetaries? I know where there are some very old ones.
Thanks in advance for any and all comments.

You will love the E-trac.... Do us and the hobby a favor and don't get near a grave site with a metal detector

Thanks for your input. I've had this feeling for a long time that cementaries were off limits. Sounds creepy.

Hey there coindude, I sent in my order yesterday for my new E-Trac. According to the USPS they should have gotten my order today before 12 noon. :wiggle:

Hope you get your order in soon too.

Already have joined the local group here, the Prospecting and Treasure Hunters Association. Met most of them on Wed evening. The membership was 54 that night. I joined and a buddy with me joined too. There were one or two others who joined the local group that night too.

Have a great day and take care

Don

because some families have put metal objects in the ground as a cultural thing. They often put coins, and other objects in the ground as a good bye gesture.

It is not ever a good idea to go into a cemetery with a metal detector.

Grave sites are deffinately off limit's but I have heard of people searching along the narrow road's that go through a cemetery. Is this also a no,no? Just wondering what your thought's are. Gary

I look at it this way---- There isn't anything I can't buy that I would find in a cemetery. It's off limits for me! That's just where I draw the moral line for myself! Leave the deceased and their objects left by loved ones, alone. But a great topic!! I'm sure some people believe the dead do not need any Earthly possessions, but for me it's a mater of respect. Just my thoughts though:).

I agree with you coinut, morally incorrect and also think of how its viewed by people who dont detect(people who could raise a stink and get detecting banned in some locations). Just find other locations to hunt, remember its a hobby.
