time ranger

Farmer85 I have owned the Time Ranger for about 6 years. At the time it was considered top of the BH line of detectors. It is a great machine. There is a bit of learning curve but like any machine it just takes practice. As far as depth I have hit and retrieved targets at 8 to 10 inches depending on size. Unfortunately it developed an issue and I sent it to First Texas about 2 weeks ago. They said the mode switch had failed. The repair has been made and I am supposed to receive it on Monday. Second time I've used their customer service, it is first class. I am really looking forward to getting it back. It has whistles and bells I don't use but that is just a user preference. Just before the switch failed I retrieved a nice Titanium wedding band in a tether ball court at a motel my wife and I were staying. I can't say a single negative thing about the unit or BH, they make some really great and affordable machines.

Got my Time Ranger back from First Texas after a minor repair. Took it out in the back yard today to test it out. WOW, I am so pleased. While I was waiting for it to be returned I re-read the manual and focused in on the Disc/Target mode. I really hadn't used that function much at all. This function allows you to program the discrimination yourself. It is very simple to set up and when I field tested, it did exactly what I had hoped for. It has four pre- sets but with the programmable mode I know exactly what it is looking for. In my opinion the Time Ranger is still top of the line and will go head to head with any of the big boys. The depth is an easy ten or more inches and pin pointing is dead on. I also learned a new trick for pin pointing when you "detune" to narrow the search field. Neat thing about "detune" is that it works with every detector. Really saves time and plugs are much smaller. It's right there in the manual and I guess I didn't notice before. Really looking forward to my next time out.
