Time Ranger

I own a Time Ranger. I was wondering if something is wrong with my detector. When I turn my detector on and hold my coil to the ground my ground monitor reads -3. Shouldn't it read 0 ? Hope someone can answer this for me because maybe I'm missing targets when I'm out detecting. thx

Never had a TR so I can't help with your question. There are some really knowledgeable people on the forum and maybe some of them will offer an answer.

The ground monitor indicates how much iron mineralization in present in the ground. If it reads -3 the ground doesn't have much iron mineralization. If it reads in the + and the higher the reading, the more iron mineralization there is in the dirt. Then you might want to ground balance your MT.
Most of the time (depending on where your live) you won't see it on 0 much.
It may read 0 after a successful ground balance. I guess I never looked after I did a manual ground balance. I will have to check that out.

Hope this helps.
