Time Ranger vs. F4

The Time Ranger and the Fisher F4 are about the same in cost if you shop on the net so my question is, how do they compare in performance. Anyone have experience with both? How about depth?

I think that is a question best posted on the Fisher forum as there
are many experienced Fisher MDer's there.

Both push a solid 10" in dry low iron content soil. The F4 gets really funky if the ground is swampy [falses a lot more]. The TR is great in the swamp [no falsing and depths of 12"+]. The TR loses a lot of sensativity in iron rich soil, but the F4 seems to adjust well and hit the deep coins. On fast recovery runs the TR just finds more coins.
My brother still loves his F4 and I love my TR. They seem very well matched to me except that the TR is just better...because its mine. [GRIN]

I have always said, you could put the best detector in the world in front of me, and I will envy it, but I will not like it if I do not know how to speak it's language (operate it)...What you know and what your comfortable with is going to be the best detector for you...judge not by the price or the reputation, but how well you can make it work for you...
Now Minelab is supposed to have some of the best detectors out there, but I just do not like the user interfaces or the sounds the detector makes...I do not want to hear a bunch of bird calls...I want just a nice solid beep when I hit something good...Hmmm...sounds like a Eagle screech....must be a $20 gold double eagle then right???...lol

My buddy is very good with a Sovereign and can almost tell the flavor of soda the pulltab was removed from before he digs by these "bird calls". Its natural to fear what you don't understand. Different strokes for different folks I guess. If I get a chance, I'll post a pic of his 2 1/2 gold piece he pulled from a local park last week. JJ
