time ranger production dates

I recently purchased a new Time Ranger, the production date in the battery compartment says sept 2012. I thought these where discontinued
in 2010? Anyone know why all the sites say it is discountinued despite the mfg date on mine. I also noticed the new titan 9000 looks exactly the same as the time ranger. Any
one know why my mfg date is in 2012? I am just curious, I e-mailed the company and have received no response. I am just curious and wondering if they are still making them.

I don't have an exact reason for the different dates on the TR. I bought one at the end of 2011. I have read that BH releases small batches of TR's from time-to-time. I had also read that the TR was discountinued in 2010. I guess the the date shouldn't matter much, you got a good MD.

I also have a newer time ranger and it seems to be a really good machine alot quieter than my ace 250. i have also been wondering the difference with the titan 9000. anyone know anything about the 9000

According to a company rep who I spoke to a few months ago it is basically identical. He said they might have done a few minor tweaks, but nothing the user would probably notice. Since it has made some revisions since it's first release, I don't think there is much room for improvement....other than a complete revamp. The only endorsement I would give to the Titan 9000 is that you will be covered under a full 5 year warranty.

The main reason for me wondering about the mfg date of the Time ranger is that, I have heard counterfeits are being made overseas of various brands, Minelab..BH ect... The cloned detectors look Identical to the real thing, just have poor quality electronics inside, and of course a little cheaper in price. It kind of made me wonder when I seen the 2012 date on it, when everyone says they were discontinued in 2010. I did buy it from a reputable store however, so I assume I did alright. I wish Bounty Hunter would of responded to me on this issue, I would think this would be something they would want to clear up since they must still be making them in one form or another. I am not going to loose too much sleep over it, since i got such a great deal on it, but with that being said, I would gladly pay a little more for the real thing any day. Thanks for the info.

To my knowledge the BH Time Ranger has not been counterfeited, nor is it a product likely to tempt a counterfeiter. Even if it has been (which I very much doubt), it's very unlikely that any would be entering the USA. Anyone distributing counterfeits in the USA would immediately be pounced on.

Regarding the meaning of the word "discontinued": it sometimes happens that a product which the factory has stopped marketing and no longer manufactures to stock, someone in the distribution chain will place an order for hundreds (or more), and put money up front. In a case like that, if it's something we still have the capability to manufacture, we may go ahead and crank up the production line again to fill the order. I'm not sure when the Time Ranger was "discontinued" but I do know that some were produced in 2012.

Do you know what the minor tweeks to the Titan 9000 were the factory rep was refering to when he was asked about the differences between the Time Ranger and the Titan 9000 a few months ago?
