Time Ranger Discontinued?

I looked at the Kelly Co site at the BH line (have long wanted a Time Ranger) and was surprised that the site stated that the Sharp Shooter II, Land Star, Land Ranger and Time Ranger were all discontinued and no longer listed.

The site also stated that the Sharp Shooter II had been replaced by the BH Pioneer 503. I thought the SS II was the same as the BH Pioneer 505 with the 505 having a depth indicator. I have never heard of the BH 503. Kelly Co listed three 500 series BH Pioneers, the 501, 503 and 505. I assume the BH 505 is the same one Wal-Mart used to sell. I never heard of the 501 or 503 before looking at their web page.

Anyone know anything about the SS II, Land Star, Land Ranger or Time Ranger being discontinued? If so, what will BH replace them with? If they are not going to replace them why would BH wipe out their mid and upper level BH line?

It never made any sense for First Texas to offer so many products that were so similar in price and function. Just like Chrysler dropped Plymouth and General Motors dropped Pontiac, the market makes decisions.

That is true but the models being dropped were at the high end of the BH line. I would like to see them replaced by machines of equal performance. I like my QD II but would like to upgrade at some point. If the higher end BH machines are no longer made that cuts down the options quite a bit.

I think that First Texas will fill the void with detectors from its other brand/s like Fisher or Teknetics etc.

BH Has been pushing the Fischer and teknetics lineups lately...I think they may be looking to drop the BH lineup all together???

Yea, If I was to upgrade I was looking at a Time Ranger. It seems everyone is looking at down sizing a little.

Y'all are probably right. Seems a shame if BH really wipes the upper BH line. When I started detecting I wanted the most bang for my buck I could get. To me that meant BH. I wanted to stay with BH when I did get around to upgrading.

 Somehow I just KNEW this was going to happen when 1st Texas bought Fisher. I was going to get a new Time Ranger too but I will have to think about it now. Nearly ALL of the metal detector companies are doing things lately that just don't make sense. ( I wonder if they are secretly working for B.O?)

It seems odd that Kellyco and other detector companies would quit selling the Time Ranger just because BH stopped making them. Presumably, they still have a stock of those machines to sell, right? Not to get anyone's hopes up, but it seems like there should be a bunch of these machines on clearance since they are now "obsolete". By the way, to build off what GoGoGopher said, I noticed that BH added a few new Teknetics lately...perhaps a sign of things to come?

What does everyone think about the Teknetics brand? I was hoping to upgrade my BH LoneStar, but real uncertain on what to buy. Fisher, Teknetics, even considering maybe a Whites MTX.

Thanks reddirtfisher, for the update, hope BH will continue to make the Time Ranger. Wonder about the other models?

That is good news. I wonder why Kelly Co doesn't list them anymore?

 I think KellyCo still lists the Bounty Hunter 505 don't they? I know that "Aardvark Sales" has most of the Bounty Hunters for sale.

Teknetics is the way to go. Been at this hobby as far back as a Metrotech 220a.Still have a Teknetics Mark I designed by George Payne the man who came out with Teknetics. I currently own a Delta 4000, Omega 8000, Minelab Sovereign and several others. The hottest selling detector on ebay is the Teknetics T2.LTD. Dealers sold it for 1199 and they were going on ebay for over 2000 at Christmas. Also have a Landstar.
