Time for a se pro?

I have two explorer xs machines that I share with my two sons. For father's day I got the greenlight to purchase a 3rd detector. With some thought I moved forward with a good priced used E Trac. The detector is great but my brain is trained to keep wanting to hear the ferrous sounds of the explorer. Now I am constantly looking at the etrac smart screen digital numbers for information, where before I never looked at the screen. A bit frustrated. Now I am thinking I should move to a explorer se pro and sell the e track to get a bit of an upgrade from the xs. But not so drastic of a change. Anyone do this?

I tried an e-trac but I didn't care for it. If my SE ever dies out I will get an e-trac and learn it. The Equinox would be tempting but I don't trust the fact that it is built in Malaysia. It would be comparable to me buying a Marshall amp built in Vietnam.

I'm on my 2nd SE Pro because I thought my first one was a Hilti Hammer Drill. But the reason they made the SE Pro was for the screen ID. IMHO. I exclusively use Ferrous but sometimes the tone just ain't exactly what it should be and that's when the ID shines. Especially when pinpointing and shutting off IM to take a look see. If you can get a low use one, like I did for my second machine, $500 or there abouts is a good price with the 11" Pro Coil. I am REAL careful with this one. Up to 36 silvers FTY so far over hammered to death ground.

Not sure how much of an upgrade the unit in itself is much of an upgrade over the old XS. Granted it is a tad faster on screen due to being a third gen processor vs a first gen but, if as you say you never look at the screen its not a big deal.
The SE units do offer other nice features (as I mention in my top sticky) but, thats about it.
Most moved to a SE Pro because they wanted the newer machine and also because they stopped repairing the old XS (except for MSR). I hunt along side a guy I have hunted with with over 20yrs and trust me his XS is just as capable as finding things as a SE SE/Pro.
I to moved on from my XS II and went with a SE-Pro simply because my old unit had been used to death.
Best of luck in your quest.

Just picked up a used se pro. I traded out a v3i for the se pro and a 5900 di SL. Had one before and found all kinds of stuff. Now relearning it

Thanks for the comments;
I did pick up a used SE Pro about a month ago at a good price and I feel much more comfortable with this detector than the Etrac (for me). As everyone knows, it has a lot of the same features as my other XS's but still a few new things such as pin point and two # ID. But in all honesty, I'll take out the SE Pro one day and the next hunt I'll take my XS. Even though the SE Pro is more stable than the XS; there seems to be just a little bit more raw power or depth that I feel like I get out of the XS than the SE. It's probably because I know that detector(s) very well and still learning the nuances of the SE. Anyway, for me getting the SE was the right thing to do.
