Time for a new pair of headphones

Ok I'd like to know what you guys are using with your CTX. I'm leaning towards Grey Ghosts of some form. I use the wireless module at all times and my CTX will never swim.

I use Sunray Pro Golds and like them. Used them on my ETrac also and guess I just like the sound and snug fit to block out noise

Todd,
I'm probably going to go against the majority, but I don't like the tone of the Grey Ghosts...at all.
The level limiter circuit muffles the tone, and kills the 'brightness' of the signal.

I didn't really notice how bad they are until I tried some others.
After some testing, I'm now convinced they're the worst sounding headphones out there.
(Picture yourself listening to someone who accidentally covers the microphone of their phone while talking...it's that bad.)

Killer B's are great...SunRay Pro Gold are great...
And get this...the DetectorPro UniProbe headphones DON'T have the limiter circuit...and they sound GREAT!
(Made, of course, by the same folks who make the Grey Ghost.)

I also use some semi-custom earbuds made by Westone Labs in Colorado with the wireless module...for those times when too much sweat builds up in the headphones.
They're expensive, but sound great. (Much better than the generic junk you can buy off the shelf.)

Good luck, and
HH

+1 : GG and especially U model do't sounds good at all.

If you never swim and use your WM-10 module, you have plenty of choice and you can stay away from "metal detecting" headphones. I like Sennheiser ones! I sometimes use Sony... they all work fine compared to Metal Detecting headphones and they are inexpensive.

Todd,

I have used Black Widows on my 3030 since I got it in Sep 2012 and on my Explorer before that and they sound great. They have the best rating for cancelling out ambient noise of any headphones that I have seen. The Uniprobes have a somewhat muffled sound to me on the 3030 and I really wanted to use them for the probe but they just don’t give me anything more than a muffled type response. Sun Rays sound good on my F75 LTD but don't sound that great to me on the 3030. I even have two pair of Black Widows as backups –just in case. The also give a good sound on my TDI while beach hunting as they cut down the amount of “wave” action that other headphone let in. If you hunt where there are “rattlers”, don’t use the Black Widows as you will never hear it before it strikes!

Just my 2 cents.

Todd - I'm with Terry - I've used Sunray Pro Golds since my E-Trac days (same pair, several cord repairs later).

Love the tones, very comfortable, snug fit.

I use sony ear buds when it is hot out, headphones make my head sweat. I use pro golds when it is cooler out. They sound great to me and I am hard of hearing.

Killer Bees give a good solid tone and have worked well for me!

Sunray Pro Golds for the CTX. I love the sound and how they are made. I've used them with my last two E-trac's and had to have them for me CTX.

Although I primarily hunt the water with my CTX and like the Gray Ghosts....like some of the other guys...love my Sunray Pro Gold's!
Wanted to buy a set of Mal's but could not figure how to get the money to him. Depressing. -Kieth

Hey Todd I'm in the pro gold camp- sound great, fit well, they have lasted a long time with no issues but I hate the external switches thank god for threshold sound.

I'm a Sunray Pro Gold guy myself....they have the best sound to my ears. I've tried others....but stick with the Gold.
