Went hunting with my brother-in-law, Tim...a good person, hard worker and raises a good family. He beat me hunting today at one of my own sites. He found this ring, the button, and a baseball token along with a handful of coins. Can anyone identify the button? And one big Lincoln penny...sometimes I think he hides stuff in his pockets! His birthday was Tuesday...if you get a chance, wish him a Happy Birthday!
Ask him about the Lincoln penny..I think it is a fake!

Well being Kings Crown it dates 1902-1953..I ve gone through my British Button book and could not find one the exact same..many have these tight letters but none I could find also had the "tape or scroll" also..it May be Canadian....can you make out a makers mark or the words in the scroll?

Thanks
Dean

i just looked at the button and all the letters on the scroll are backwards. but from left to right they are"EPFNU LDUIM CASY" which i thought was weird

Tim...You're button is most likely a CROWN & CYPHER button, the history behind these buttons is that each King or Queen had their own CYPHER, the design within the buttons lettering, each cypher could be dated according to its design, your design, This button has the cypher of one of Queen Victoria's sons, Alfred Duke of Edinburgh who died in 1950. This button was worn until 1956 when Prince Philip became Duke of Edinburgh and his cypher has been worn since, it most likely belongs to either and Engineering Regiment, or volunteers of some sort, if you could translate the printed text, this would give you particular type of button, but the dating comes from the cypher or insignia a good sight to look would be one that gives British Crown and Cypher Button photographs and timelines....good luck, Jack
